Hello, I’m Alissa

Licensed Occupational Therapist. Home safety educator. And someone who grew up watching her family navigate the hard, uncertain work of caring for aging loved ones — and never forgot what that felt like.

Why I built Adaptive Aging Solutions:

Growing up, I watched my parents care for their aging parents — navigating the challenges, uncertainties, and tough decisions that come with supporting a loved one through the aging process. I saw firsthand the physical, emotional, and logistical weight they carried: finding ways to keep someone safe, helping them hold onto their independence, and doing it all without a clear roadmap.  Those experiences shaped me. They’re also a big part of why I became an Occupational Therapist.

Over more than a decade in healthcare, I’ve worked alongside individuals and families facing the reality of aging — often after a fall, a diagnosis, or the gradual changes that make everyday tasks harder than they used to be. In the hospital setting, I’ve met countless families desperate for direction, asking “What do we do now?” and “How do we keep them safe at home?” Again and again, I’ve heard some version of: “I wish I’d found you sooner.”

When I stepped back from clinical practice to be home more with my own little ones, I couldn’t stop thinking about those families. The ones without a discharge planner to call. The ones Googling at midnight trying to figure out if their mom’s bathroom is safe. The ones who just need someone knowledgeable in their corner — without the barriers of referrals, insurance, or clinical jargon.  So I built Adaptive Aging Solutions to be exactly that: accessible, plain-language home safety education and practical resources for families who want to do right by their loved ones — and just need to know where to start.

Whether you’re adapting to hearing loss, managing arthritis, supporting a parent with dementia, or simply trying to make daily life a little safer and easier — this is why I’m here. Aging doesn’t have to mean losing independence or joy. And you don’t have to figure it out alone.

My Background

I hold a Masters in Occupational Therapy. My clinical background includes stroke rehabilitation, neuro rehab, spinal cord injuries, orthopedic/oncology surgery recovery, hearing loss, and general acute care. I have been certified as a health education specialist (CHES) and stroke rehab specialist (CSRS). I am fluent in English and can carry conversations in Spanish and ASL. I am passionate about aging in place, home safety, and supporting families through care transitions.

Adaptive Aging Solutions operates as an educational and coaching service. My sessions and resources are designed to provide general home safety education and family guidance — not clinical OT services or medical advice.
